My husband...

Made a comment about Coco being on my night table.  "That doll is there... all the time..." -- yes, yes she is.

I didn't think he would have noticed as she is so, well, small and seemingly unobtrusive.  But Coco makes a big impact.  She's about 13.5" tall.  Her expression is very "piercing" though.  She does look as if she's "looking at you".

Then, he said what I think might be the weirdest thing.  He said "she looks like she's double jointed"... I just yes she is, then I thought about it... what a strange thing for him to say.  How'd he notice that??  I know what bjd double joints look like, but that's only recently that I would even think about such things...

She's really a great doll and here she is on some "new" shabby chic rose fabric....  I want to eventually make a shabby chic bedroom and a closet filled with clothes for Coco....

I bought this chaise for her, but it is too small.  Double darn...

I feel paralyzed.... from fear?

I keep working on ideas for Coco, but I feel nothing is good enough.  I'm not happy with the beginnings of my silky slip dress for her.  I worked on "creative" things... a mask for my other dolls, my daughter's quilt, but I just can't get into the groove of creating for Coco.

So there she sits, actually lies on my nightstand on a "comforter".  Its on the far end of the room, so no one will touch her.  I see her every night before I go to bed and every morning as I awaken.  I'm so happy to have her.  She is a lovely doll.  I will have to do some rough sketching....

I feel so happy and privileged to own this doll.  To see Angelika's workmanship is quite amazing.  I liked the idea of a "character doll" and when I saw Coco Chanel, I thought "brilliant" --

Here she is reclining on the mattress I'm making for a Porcelain Bjd bed.

Love this doll.

Though progress is slow...

At least I have (a little) progress to report.

I didn't get to the satin slip dress, but I couldn't have Coco prancing around nude.  My solution is to make a quick slip for her.

But before I show you that, here is her hand.  I'm so enthralled with her hands....

I made this dress from a napkin that had a hand crocheted lace on the corner.  A quick snip here and there and some straps and viola.  (well I haven't attached the straps as yet....)

After I trimmed it, stitched it, hemmed it, and started the straps:

You get a sneak peek at the lilac fabric as she lays on it...

Coco hasn't a thing to wear

As some may know, Angelika's doll, Coco was based on Coco Chanel.  Coco was no nonsense with a very simple and elegant style, some times bordering on manly.  As I have no other dolls her size, Coco has been sitting.... for days now unclothed... Hardly fitting for a lady.

I am starting to put together a simple satin slip dress for her.  Naturally, I can't find the light blue that I wanted to use, so I'll have to settle for a dull lilac.  As it is my first outfit for her, I think I'll take my time and try to do it some justice (I've never been the best of seamstresses).

She can't be reclining in the nude in every photo!   (But as you can see, her body blushing and modeling is exquisite).  She is really a beauty.

Woke up this morning and it was....

Dark as night.  Not something usual for my area.  If we have rain, usually it is for a brief time and it is in the late afternoon.  I'm not going to worry, I'll work on the bed I've been meaning to... and just "wait out the rain" -- it can't last all day (I'm hoping)..

I have an old photo from her first trip to me.

The lighting was terrrible, but I love her hands so.....

Sorry to be so late :)

Now for the "second" part ...

The doll.  Those of you who follow me on Pintrest, have seen the dolls I like, not all of them as you can't pin from Flickr.  Unfortunately, many of the most talented artists are on, yes, Flickr???   I now await my doll...

These things take time.  I'm a patient person (usually) -- So, I'm waiting.  I'll take a photo.  I had some trials and tribulations, the first doll arrived, that day, her leg "came off"  -- weirdest thing.  Just the leg... ALL IS BETTER NOW.  She was shipped, repaired and returned........

Cause for celebration (I assure you). Yeah, happy dance.  So excited finally.  I think I'm getting to close to my last doll....  If she isn't the last, she's close to it.  I guess this is how things work out.   My camera battery died... UGGGhhhh.  I'm going to ask my daughter (to borrow hers)....  Photos by tomorrow.
